Press Release: Byers Community Care Grant

Widow Care is announcing their Byers Community Care Grant. This grant comes just in time for International Widows Day on Sunday, June 23rd.

Widow Care aims to provide support, social engagement & strength to those who are facing one of life's greatest tragedies-- the loss of a spouse. While our programs aim to alleviate some of the stress & isolation that come with widowhood, there's still another major concern for some widowed persons-- the financial burden.

Whether you have medical debt from your spouse's treatments, or you're struggling to pay-off car payments and other debts with a single income, Widow Care invites you to apply to our 2019 Community Care Grant. 

Adelaide Byers is holding a community yard sale, the proceeds for which will be donated to one (1) grant recipient, chosen by Widow Care. To fill out an application, review the eligibility requirements below and submit an application if you qualify. Note that we are only able to provide a grant to (1) recipient, and applying does not guarantee that you will be chosen at the recipient.

The deadline for applying to the grant is Friday, June 21st, 2019 at 11:59pm EST. The grant will be distributed on Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 via check-- the amount is TBD (all proceeds from the garage sale will be given to the grant recipient). 

To be eligible, applicants must be widowed, must reside in the DC Metropolitan region & be a U.S. citizen, must be active in the Widow Care Community, and must be experiencing a financial hardship. Check here for other eligibility requirements.
